John Cameron Mitchell

Writer, actor and director John Cameron Mitchell is known for his motion pictures ‘Shortbus’, ‘Rabbit Hole’ and ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’. In 1998 Mitchell wrote (along with composer Stephen Trask) and starred in ‘Hedwig’, which began Off-Broadway and then went on to be adapted into the beloved 2001 movie, for which he won Best Director at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, as well as being nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Both the play and the film were critical hits and have spawned cult followings around the world. Fifteen years in the making, ‘Hedwig’ recently made its Broadway debut and received spectacular reviews. 17 years after originating the role off Broadway, John has recently made his triumphant return to the stage as Hedwig.

His latest film ‘How to Talk to Girls at Parties’ starring Nicole Kidman was released in Spring 2018. 
His commercial work includes a number of short films and spots for Dior including ‘Lady Grey London’ and ‘L.A.dy Dior’ both starring Marion Cotillard and Ian McKellen, as well as Dior ‘Homme Sport’ starring Jude Law. He has also shot campaigns for Agent Provocateur.

He has directed music videos for Bright Eyes’ ‘First Day of My Life’ (featuring Secret Garden co-star Alison Fraser) and the Scissor Sisters ‘Filthy/Gorgeous’.
